Some consumables in the base game and DLC can also increase your DT, but the effects are temporary. Additionally, as your armors condition decreases, so does its DT, meaning armor must be properly maintained. Depending on your playstyle, heavier armors and power armor can provide great DT but can reduce your movement speed. There’re a few ways to increase your DT in the game, the most obvious being to wear tough armor. For example, if a shot is fired at you with a damage value of 40 against a DT of 10 from any armor, consumables or perks you have, 10 of that damage will be ignored. DT functions as an outright subtraction to the total damage taken by an enemy.
